Three Filipino players have earned the golden boot for the AFC Challenge Cup for three years in a row! Congratulations to Phil Younghusband who takes top honors this year succeeding Chieffy Caligdong and Ian Araneta.
No doubt the 4-3 goal fest in the battle for third place against Palestine helped Phil secure the boot with a six goal total. Phil had a great showing in this tournament with increasingly good chemistry with other players apart from his brother James.

DPR Korea ended up winning the competition with Pak Nam-chol taking the Most Valuable Player award. After a near-win and a controversial game which rained cards against runners-up Turkmenistan and a good game against winners DPR Korea, This tournament could actually have gone a lot better than the end result for the Azkals.
After an unexpected scoreline against Korea, it seems like the AZKALS might have what it takes to win it. Things didn't go their way this year but the mountain is leveling off and doesn't seem as steep as it had been when the event started. We have a lot more to look forward to this year so stay tuned!
