Well, I suppose there was no harm in hoping. After the first half, it almost seemed like the AZKALS might just make a dream ending to their opening AFC Challenge Cup match.
At the half it was still a scoreless draw. The AZKALS held on an entire half despite many speculations that they will concede a goal withing the first 20 mins.
Neil Etheridge performed well saving a retaken penalty in the 16th minute which would have proven disastrous for the AZKALS' morale.
The first goal came in the 50th minute. a beautiful header from Pak nam-chol whizzed past Etheridge and the Philippine defensive line. Jang kuk-chol added insult to injury with another goal 11 mins after the first.
Despite the loss, this is a respectable scoreline. The Filipino fans won't be happy with it but considering the caliber of the opponent, let's be happy the didn't pull a Barcelona on us.
