Internazionale 2:1 Marseille
agg (2:2)
Marseille advance on away goals
Internazionale: Milito '75, Pazzini 90+6'
Marseille: Brandao 90+2
I have always thought that the weight given to away goals are way too much to decide a tie. After all both teams have a chance to play at home so goals either way must have the same value in my opinion.
Anyway, regardless, Marseille have taken out Inter to advance to the quarter finals this season with a very late goal care of Barandao who came in as a sub only four minutes before scoring the away goal that was the final nail in Inter's coffin.
Bayern 7:0 Basel
agg (7:1)
Bayern: Robben 11', 81', T. Muller 42', Gomez 44', 50', 61', 67
In what seems to be an attempt to equal Lionel Messi's spectacular round of 16 performance, Mario Gomez fell one short and managed only four goals for Bayern Munich in their second leg outing against Basel.
However, the team did give Basel a thrashing with a final score of 7:0 besting Barca's own 7:1 record so far. Coming from a first leg defeat, The German side came back with a vengeance and buried the opponents deep in the ground at home.
Basel's plans of keeping their lead and stopping the German side came down to tears as they were completely overwhelmed after a confident team which came to their match just after they won a Budesliga match while again scoring seven goals
